ZoeGoesBig
BACKGROUND
There was a time in my life when my studio was a roll-top desk. This worked great when my kids were little. I could be working on a cut-paper collage project (my go-to medium, at that time in my life) and steal moments to hunker down while they were napping. As soon as they woke up I could quickly slide the desk closed and all my colorful scraps and bits, and sharp X-acto blades, would be safe from curious fingers.
Once I learned the sewing machine I started quilting. I began making and selling my Memory Quilt services (blankets made from old t-shirts, jerseys, memorabilia and keepsake items). I called my venture ZoeGoesbig because, not only were the blankets big, but I knew I had many big creative expressions ready to come out of me.
Naturally, I outgrew that rolltop desk as well as the dining room table. Luckily a garage renovation and a clever husband, led to a loft-like space for me to work. And work I did!
Now I go between large mixed-media wall hangings (quilted, stitched, painted, glued, collaged, etc.) to digital illustrations created in Procreate. I always love mixing it up and I find inspiration in everyday things.
EDUCATION
I left NYC for Chicago and received my Bachelor of Sciences Undergraduate degree in Communication Studies from Northwestern University.
Later I received my Masters Degree in Interactive Media from New York University.
I also received a Teaching Credential from Cal State TEACH in Los Angeles, California.
Can you tell I like to learn!
